Browne McGregor Architects’ (BMA) work with Davis Holdings began in 1996 with the design of Summit Square Shopping Center during the days when the Rockets played at The Summit (now Lakewood Church) across the freeway.   Since then, BMA has completed many new or renovated retail projects with Davis, the most recent of which is the Baybrook Terrace renovation.

Baybrook Terrace, consisting of three, single-story, retail buildings totaling 56,300 square feet, sits on freeway frontage out-lots bordering the newly renovated Baybrook Mall in Friendswood, Texas.   The 2020 renovation was preceded by projects in 1998 and 2007 designed by BMA in collaboration with Davis Holdings.

The 2020 work was designed to complement the recent Mall renovation. Particular attention was given to the corners of the buildings where back-lit ‘tower” elements were planned to catch the eye of mall/movie goers.

The project also included signage band enhancements to replace outdated awnings, new LED light fixtures, and re-roofing.  BMA is continuing to assist Davis Holdings with rendering services to illustrate outdoor dining concepts for restaurant tenants.

The original building structure consists of concrete, tilt-wall panels with an interior steel frame which has proven to be durable armature for the periodic renovations required to keep this commercial project updated and relevant to the evolving retail environment.
